Admin – Dot Sequencer – Activity Listener Branch

In a Dot Sequence, an Activity Listener Branch checks for an action from a lead, using a qualifier, before moving to the next part of a sequence. If the lead performs the action, the sequence will proceed to the upper branch. If the lead does not perform the action, the sequence will proceed to the lower branch.

An Activity Listener Branch can only be used once in a sequence, and can also only be used after the first dot of the sequence.

If you want to create a more intricate sequence using more branches, you can put the recipients of a sequence into a Sequence Group using a Group Dot.

There are three types of affirmative qualifiers in the upper branch:

  • This qualifier checks if a lead has opened the email
  • Choose this if you want to proceed with the leads who, at a minimum, opened the email
  • This qualifier checks if a lead has clicked a link in the email
  • Choose this if you want to proceed with the leads who, at a minimum, clicked a link in the email
    • This excludes leads who opened an email but did not click any links
  • This qualifier checks if a lead has visited a URL
    • After selecting this qualifier, enter your URL into the field-form that appears
    • * If you are using self-replicated links, include the wildcard symbol ‘%’ in place of the Site Username
      • Instead of this:
        www.domain.com/username/webpage
      • Replace with:
        www.domain.com/%/webpage/
  • Choose this if you want to proceed with the leads who, at a minimum, visited the URL
    • This excludes leads who opened an email and clicked a link but did not visit the URL

And three types of negative qualifiers in the lower branch:

  • This qualifier checks that a lead has not opened the email
  • Choose this if you want to proceed with the leads who did not perform any actions
  • This qualifier checks that a lead has not clicked any links in the email
  • Choose this if you want to proceed with the leads who may have opened an email but did not click a link
  • This qualifier checks if a lead has not visited a URL
    • After selecting this qualifier, enter your URL into the field-form that appears
    • * If you are using self-replicated links, include the wildcard symbol ‘%’ in place of the Site Username
      • Instead of this:
        www.domain.com/username/webpage
      • Replace with:
        www.domain.com/%/webpage/
  • Choose this if you want to proceed with the leads who may have opened an email and clicked a link but did not visit the URL
*Wildcard

Because you do not know who will receive your emails, and the links in them, you cannot and should not use an exact link to a self-replicated page.

For example, let’s say that you have three users – each with a self-replicated link:

  • User 1
    www.domain.com/username1/webpage
  • User 2
    www.domain.com/username2/webpage
  • User 3
    www.domain.com/username3/webpage

If you use “www.domain.com/username1/webpage” as your DidVisit link, the system is only going to check when email recipients go to User 1’s link.

However, User 2 and User 3 are sending their leads the same emails. If you only check for User 1’s link, how are User 2 and 3 to know if someone has visited their links?

You want to check for all of your users’ links. Instead of using “username1“, “username2“, or “username3” in your link, use a ‘%‘ where your Site Username would normally be.

Like this:

Timeframe

You can set a timeframe to allow a lead to take an action before the next step is executed. The timeframe must be at least 20 minutes.
